Now that we are all looking forward to summer and have that 'Spring fever', I am hearing so many complaints in the gym, at school and at work, how everybody has sinus pain and resulting in headaches etc.
Of course we don't think that the trees are shedding pollen at a staggering rate and that the rain has not yet come to wash it all away. Did you know that different trees flower at different times? Therefore we generally have this problem re-occurring throughout the year.
What does that have to do with my ears you may ask?
Well, everything actually. Your sinuses, ears, eyes and head are all connected, if one is affected by allergic reactions then there will be effects on all these other areas.
That is why EARHURTS help so much with allergic rhinitis and symptoms thereof. They are natural, safe and can be used year-round even with grommets or medication.
Once the ear plug is inserted it is warmed up by your body temperature and healing vapours are released into the ear canal which helps to sooth pain not only in the ears but sinuses as well.

A multi purpose product. Use it - it works!!

I recently flew overseas for our holiday in Europe but left SA with a blocked nose and flu. I had no worries as I knew I was armed in-flight with my EarPlanes, which effortlessly equalized the difference in air pressure causing me to suffer no pain or discomfort.
We arrived in France, what a dream, the city was beautiful but freezing cold. Thinking we were going to a warmer climate we were ill prepared for the cold and rain that hit us as we hopped frenetically between the sights. The extremely cold wind at the top of the Eiffel Tower caused me such pain, so I whipped out a pair of EarHurts- never travel with out EarHurts. You never know when a cold or ear-pain will set in and leave you scrambling for doctors or medical assistance in a foreign country (not a good experience).
We finally left the freezing "mild" weather of France to be hit by a 45 degree heat wave in Greece.
Hitting the beach I searched my pool bag for BioEars, my daughter sometimes prefers the Cirrus Swim plugs but I found that even after dropping my BioEars into the sand I could merely wash them off and reinsert.
As I left the beach, my husband who refuses to wear earplugs complained of having sea water trapped in his ear- TADA - ClearEars, which by the time we got home had absorbed all the water trapped in his ear that was causing him discomfort.
Now people we take our city living for granted -sleeping in a cosmopolitan city like Greece is noisy and very unsettling, so I used CloudSoft noise protection earplugs to drown out the sounds of the city with its traffic and watermelon vendors which sell you water melons at 6 in the morning - go figure! They even fetch the refuse bins at 2 in the morning as its too hot to work in the day, they rattle the bins and have sirens marking their arrival.
With my CloudSofts securely in place i could begin to enjoy the holidays and get the rest I was so craving for.

So that was my EARPLUG TRAVELLING EXPERIENCE  I always say better be prepared than get stuck somewhere with out a possible solution. Trust me, travelling with my earplugs made my holiday a joy.

Earhurts ...

Winter is wearing me down, and it has not even properly begun!! The endless merry-go-round of allergies, sinus and congestion then the coughing and sore throat!
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!! but what has truly been a life saver are these EARHURTS. What do ears have to do with sinus and flu you may ask? Well as i discovered
quite a lot!  Whilst spending my birthday in bed, miserable popping antihistamines and vitamin C i decided to use my earhurts as well to see if it would make a
difference and to my surprise it most certainly did!! the sinus pain and blockage was eased and the head pain was considerably eased by the use of these amazing
earplugs. I would recommend them to anybody suffering from sinus, flu or a blocked nose. They helped me and they will help you too and the bonus is it is all natural!!

Ears a fascinating organ!

Voltaire called the ear the "road to the heart." It seems an apt description. Considering how a child's cry, a romantic song, or the thump of a neighbor's stereo at 3 a.m. can stir your emotions.

Ears not only let us hear, but they also play a role in maintaining our balance, which is vital to our ability to function in daily life. Yet, we ignore them. We can't even see our ears, except in a mirror.

We take for granted what they do for us day in and day out -- until we notice something's wrong, such as when an earache strikes or when we start having to ask people to repeat what they say.

I learn each day something new about ears, today I learnt that exercising takes vital blood supplies away from our ears and directs them to our legs, arms and body. This movement of blood away from our ears makes our hearing more sensitive so if you are listening to ear phones whilst exercising it could damage your hearing more.

Wow is that not amazing, so if you are listening to music whilst exercising, keep the level low and monitor the duration you listen for.

Ear care Awareness ...

We recently went to the Heart Fm radio station Women’s style Workshop Convention in Woodstock, Cape Town. We had an informative display of our products as an exhibitor.  Most women go to these events to be pampered to the bone, and walk away with wonderful prizes and be educated about style, finances, the latest colors, Perfumes and many more, I don’t think ear care was on their minds that day!
That being said, as soon as we started speaking to women who approached us about either the products, or the advertisement they had heard over Heart Fm, or out of pure curiosity, little groups started to form around our stand.
Each one that we spoke to had either ear problems, or had children or a friend or someone they knew with an ear care issue. There was not one problem or person for whom one of our products could not be applied. Obviously, we are not doctors, or Audiologists, so for more complex problems we refer people to the medical caretakers, but we strongly believe that hearing problems are not a thing to be taken lightly and should be dealt with as soon as possible.
So here we stand creating an awareness towards our ears, each and every day!

This Ear'hurting Winter!

So we are in the throes of winter, that means cold and ear ache. I have a daughter that suffers with her ears and the cold of winter is always very cruel to her. I recently dropped her off at school and as she exited my warm car she was struck by the cold winter air. She immediately grabbed her ears and screamed mommy (kids default word for everything happening in their lives). I was quick to the rescue and whipped out my EarHurts, which she inserted into her cold, painful ear and sighed a big thank you. Mom to the rescue yet again.
Moms be prepared, this winter is harsh on our children’s ears and if you like me you hate sending them into the cold unarmed.
Ear pain usually strikes at the most inconvenient time like then at 7am at school and 12 o’clock at night when aid is far from reach.
I always keep a pair of EarHurts handy for just such an occasion.

Hope winter is over soon!

DEAF BY EAR BUD

If you have not yet heard that sticking a cotton ear bud down your ear canal is not good for you….. where have you been?

After I read a tweet on twitter where somebody said that they received this information from their doctor, but have been using them for a decade and nothing has gone wrong.
….. YET!!!

It hit me, that seeing that I am in the Ear care industry, it would make more sense to me that sticking things down that small canal mm away from or actually poking at your ear drum would / will cause damage.

To defend my common sense theory and this being advise that all good doctors , Audiologist and Ear nose and Throat Specialist / Surgeons give, I googled the subject and merely typed in, ‘cotton buds cause ear damage’ that I planned on forwarding to the individual to persuade them to LISTEN …. No pun intended.
Matter of for meters appeared.

With all this information on the internet, I find it hard to understand that most people are either ignorant or just uninformed about ear care.

I learned (from spot reading) through all of these studies, journals, articles from doctors and many more that a cotton bud can cause a rupture in your eardrum (aka - Tympanic membrane perforation) .  It can either heal by its self or in more severe cases it can cause:

1)   Loss of hearing
-       cause by damage to the ear bones – permanent hearing loss
2)   Facial paralysis and vertigo
3)   Middle ear infection
-       The eardrum also acts as a barrier to keep outside material (such as bacteria) from entering the middle ear. When the eardrum is perforated, bacteria can easily travel to the middle ear -causing an infection.
And much more.

Like I always say, I would choose to be safe than sorry, rather use preventative ear care, than to have to wait for a cure, because … there is no cure for hearing loss.

Protect and look after your and your families ears. They are worth it.
